Armenian ChurchThe Armenian Church stands boldly to the pride of the people of Singapore because it had been the Oldest Church of Singapore for so long. The renowned architect named Colonel George Chapman was supposed to have designed it, and much to his glory, the Church still makes people remember him. This is due to the fact that Armenian Church is considered to be his magnum opus and had been devoted to Saint Gregory, who is considered as the light provider in the lives of men. The Armenian Church has also been designated as the National Monument. It is located at 60, Hill Street in Singapore and the best possible way to reach this place is to take the Hill Street direction after you reach the City Hall MRT Station. Singapore had been originally inhabited by the Malay Tribes who were fishermen. After the Second World War, the Japanese took over the island and established a colony there. Therefore much of the Singapore culture is accredited to the infiltration of the colonizers who came inside the territory. Singapore has no Natural resource as such but if you come across the Armenian Church you shall feel that the entire Cultural reserve is ample to make up for this lack. |

Bukit Batok Memorial Site SingaporeBukit Batok Memorial Site in Singapore has now become the Bukit Batok Memorial National Park. It is one of the most exquisite sites at Singapore and therefore the most visited one also. There are two memorials here; one is that of the Japanese Memorial and the other consists of the Allied soldiers who sat on the Hill Top. 500 allied Prisoners of war have constructed the former and the latter symbolizes a wooden cross. But unfortunately, both these structures have been demolished by the Japanese forces before the return of the British. There is often a confusion regarding the Shrine at the Mc Ritchie Reservoir and the Shrine at Bukit Batok. The latter is for the reminiscence of the dead soldiers while the former is for the reverence of the pure spirits also known as the Kami. To be very specific there is no burial at the Shinto Shrine. But it embodies the sanctified spirits that saves humanity in times of trouble and danger. The Bukit Batok Memorial Shrine is also known as the Victory Hill. It consists of 121 steps and the British demolished the same at times of colonial era, around 1956. Once the entire structure was re-constructed the ashes of the dead Japanese soldiers who were buried elsewhere were brought back and restored at the central cavity of the Bukit Batok Memorial Site. |

Time CapsuleThe Time Capsule in the city of Singapore is one of the major tourist attractions in the city. The Time Capsule in Singapore was sealed off on the eve of the silver jubilee of Singapore's independence on 31st December, 1999 by the Minister for Communications and Information Technology. Singapore has genuinely covered a long way ever since she gained independence, and struggled to establish herself as a booming commercial and industrial center and a vibrant city. The Time Capsule is a depositary of items or information hived away in a secret place, but with much publicity. This is supposed to act as a structure of communication with the future generation. In around 1937 the phrase "time capsule" came in rage, but actually the idea of time capsule is pretty old and dates back to the olden civilization in Mesopotamia. The Singapore Time Capsule is kept within a structure that nearly resembles a pyramid by the side of the Singapore River. Considering the architecture of the buildings that surround the place and the staid looking structures which reminds one of the colonial days, the Time Capsule is quite a deviation. The Time Capsule in Singapore is a collection of some significant items that trace back to the years of Singapore's sovereignty. The Time Capsule in Singapore is scheduled to be exposed in the year 2050. The Time Capsule is recognition of the accomplishments of human venture, an improved commitment and a hope for the future. |
